Good proposals show that there’s a need for the program being proposed. One way to do this is by presenting statistics that give an accurate picture of the situation. Your organization’s credibility rests in part on demonstrating that you understand the problem you’re addressing. And numbers can tell the story, if they’re the right numbers.

Strong grant proposals use relevant data to support the request for funding. You can spot an experienced grantseeker by how artfully they use data. (The successful grant professionals I know are obsessed with data.) Here are a few dos and don’ts for not getting lost in a sea of data. And for using data like a pro.

She bridges the gap between nonprofits and schools: Nonprofits in education & youth development need schools and schools need the support of nonprofits, but these two groups don’t always work in alignment.
